Carolyn Kalaskie – El Paso County Public Health

  • Cancer Benefits
  • Community Health Partnerships
  • People who have Medicaid benefits are not using them.
  • Tell individuals about Medicaid benefits offered.
  • Carolyn will come to meetings to present information to families.
  • RICO – Medicaid Gold Card
  • Navigators will help them enroll.
  • For families who don’t like their doctor
  • Accepting new Medicaid patients
  • Blue Card – card from public health family planning clinic. Will only see people who can still have children.  Only accept Medicaid.  Services – pap smears, breast exam, no mammograms, pregnancy testing, pregnancy counseling in the DHS building.  Minors are treated for free and adults can be treated on a sliding scale.  STDs treated.  Long acting reversible birth control. Accept walk-ins.  Arm implants and IUDs.
  • Catch clinics – see anyone who cannot afford to pay co-pays or deductibles.
  • Mission Medical clinic free – physical, mental health, eye glasses, Zennioptical.com $6.95 per glass with current prescription.
  • Dream Centers For Women – clinic for women on Academy and Montebello – gynecological services
  • Gardasil shot for boys and girls
  • Cancer screening – only 4 screenings available

    • 75-80% assistance with tuition
    • Savings program – adults – matching funds
    • Savings program – youth at risk –
    • Low income
  • YES – high school students at risk
    • Opportunity to save money
    • Must graduate from high school to match savings
  • Largest direct service provider in area – goal is to stabilize families

 

Agency updates

  • Grand Master Chae: Du Myon Martial Arts –
    163 students participated in library program – partnered with the Independence Center for a grant
  • PPLD brought Explorers program.

 

April 19, 2018 PPITT Resource Fair

  • Budget – no one knows because new person who replaced Hannah is unknown
  • Resource Fair room is reserved.
  • 3 presenters:
    • Employment
    • Day program
    • Life skills
  • Booths set up by agencies
  • SWAP/DVR, ARC and TRE presenters
  • Scheduled time – 3 sessions 45 minutes each
  • Kendra asking Ginger Stringer to present for TRE
  • Serina at DVR to present – Grant will contact
  • Connie or Conner from ARC present – Grant will contact
  • Expenses/Budget
    • Pizza from AspenPointe
      • No outside food permitted
      • Free food for participants
    • Interpreters
    • Advertising
    • Printing
    • Banner
    • Carol V. starting up a marketing and advertising committee
    • Would like at least 50 tables/agencies Agencies can purchase more than one table for different services within agency
    • Bob West manages Eventbrite – Sonya will contact Bob
    • Districts can donate printing: Resource Guide.
    • Dungarvin will provide re-useable bags.
